Mama Mia is coming to Ike theaters Nov. 6 - 8. Auditions for Mama Mia were held last week and the cast list for the leads and ensemble were posted only two days after.

Mama Mia is a musical about a daughter, Sophie, who has invited three potential dads to her wedding without telling her mom. Her mother, Donna, and Sophie then go through twists and turns that lead up to the wedding. Daniele Baxa is the director of Mama Mia.

“This will be an exciting show to pull in some people. The music is very popular, and we have very talented students that could carry those big roles,” Baxa said.

When asked about how she and the other coordinators determine who is best for what role, she described that it’s like putting a puzzle together since there are so many talented students who can sing and act.

“So then it’s finding the people that can play well off of each other and can carry their own parts,” Baxa said.

She described that she is looking forward to everyone, together, enjoying the music.

Ashley Peery is the director of music for Mama Mia. Peery teaches all of the music and harmonies to the students in the cast. Both Peery and Baxa mentioned the popularity of the songs would bring people in to see the show. Some examples of the songs are, “Money, Money, Money,” and “Dancing Queen” written by ABBA, the famous 70s Swedish pop band.

The students who made the main cast are:
