BPA Has a New Fundraiser: SOCKS

Sept. 4, 2025 By Sarah Carman

Socks have invaded Eisenhower High School but not just any socks. Corgis, dinosaurs, tacos and even jokes  have found their way onto the feet of EHS students.

“I saw a pair of grey socks that looked like regular socks but it wasn’t, it was a dinosaur,” Sophomore Blake Blazi said.

We Help Two socks in Kristin Salazar’s room features just some of the designs that students are selling to raise money for future BPA competitions.

For the first time, Business Professionals of America, or BPA, is teaming up with We Help Two in order to sell socks. We Help Two is a fundraising organization that sells high-quality socks with funny and unique prints. For every two pairs sold, they will donate a pair of socks to a charity.

BPA is a national organization that helps highschoolers take their interests into a professional setting. Students compete in regional, state, and eventually national competitions.

Kristin Salazar and Rachel Nally, BPA club sponsors and business teachers, attended nationals with EHS BPA students earlier this year. While at nationals, they saw an organization selling socks and decided to bring this fun and beneficial sock organization to EHS as a fundraiser.

“I bought a pair of socks while at nationals and they are the best walking socks ever,” Salazar said. They don’t slip, they stay right on the back of your heel, and you don’t get any blisters from them. I wear them all the time.”

When asked why she brought the fundraiser to EHS, she said. “It’s just something different from selling candy bars or cookie dough. It’s unique, and BPA is always unique.”

She went on to explain that this fundraiser is similar to previous ones like the World’s Best Chocolate Bar Fundraiser. She explained that how ever much a BPA student sells, a percentage will go back toward their personal account to pay for BPA regional, state, and national competitions. The secondary benefit is that We Help Two donates a pair of socks for every two pairs that a student sells.

“It’s similar except it’s socks,” Salazar said. “I don’t know anyone in the building or probably in the district that sells socks.”

At just $7 a pair and $16 for three pairs, students were immediately drawn.

“There’s lots of fun prints on the socks that I like and, personally, I’m going to buy,” Junior Brody Wallace said.

Not only did the prints make it exciting, but their goal as well. Some students who had attended BPA nationals expressed how it was nice to give back to local charities.

“They provide socks for people in need, and that's nice especially in this day and age when things are so expensive,” said junior Colm Power.

The students even mentioned how nice it is to have so many fun and different options.

“There are so many ways you can represent yourself through just your socks,” sophomore Brooke Shirley said.

There are many different kinds of socks being sold like the rubber duck socks and the dinosaur taco socks. Socks are available for purchase in Room 244 or from the We Help Two website.

In the words of Salazar: “The best $16 I spent at nationals.”
